Investing.com – France equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the General Retailers, Oil & Gas and Oil & Gas Producers sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 lost 2.81%, while the SBF 120 index fell 2.69%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the CAC 40 were Essilor International Compagnie Generale d`Optique SA (PARIS:ESSI), which fell 0.28% or 0.30 points to trade at 107.45 at the close. Vinci SA (PARIS:SGEF) fell 0.45% or 0.26 points to end at 56.94 and Orange SA (PARIS:ORAN) was down 1.11% or 0.15 points to 13.85 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Kering SA (PARIS:PRTP), which lost 6.16% or 9.30 points to trade at 141.70 in late trade. ArcelorMittal SA (AMS:ISPA) declined 5.84% or 0.40 points to end at 6.50 and Lafargeholcim Ltd (PARIS:LHN) shed 5.37% or 3.02 points to 53.18.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Neopost (PARIS:NPOS) which rose 10.05% to 33.41, Korian Medica SA (PARIS:KORI) which was up 1.53% to settle at 31.095 and Ipsen (PARIS:IPN) which gained 1.52% to close at 58.80.
The worst performers were Kering SA (PARIS:PRTP) which was down 6.16% to 141.70 in late trade, ArcelorMittal SA (AMS:ISPA) which lost 5.84% to settle at 6.50 and Edenred (PARIS:EDEN) which was down 5.72% to 17.30 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 528 to 162 and 60 ended unchanged on the Paris Stock Exchange.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was up 12.08% to 32.30.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was down 0.41% or 4.60 to $1119.90 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in October fell 1.16% or 0.54 to hit $46.21 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract fell 1.51% or 0.77 to trade at $49.91 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.14% to 1.1138, while EUR/GBP rose 0.52% to 0.7328.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.03% at 96.29.
