Investing.com – France equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the CAC Industrial Transportation, CAC Foods & Drugs and CAC Banks sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 fell 0.59%, while the SBF 120 index lost 0.55%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the CAC 40 were Legrand SA (PARIS:LEGD), which rose 1.59% or 0.74 points to trade at 47.70 at the close. Arcelormittal (AMS:ISPA) added 1.43% or 0.12 points to end at 8.45 and Total SA (PARIS:TOTF) was up 1.31% or 0.59 points to 45.50 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Orange SA (PARIS:ORAN), which lost 2.95% or 0.47 points to trade at 15.62 in late trade. Renault SA (PARIS:RENA) declined 2.25% or 1.57 points to end at 68.21 and Airbus Group (PARIS:AIR) shed 2.23% or 1.07 points to 47.20.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Ubisoft Entertainment (PARIS:UBIP) which rose 3.89% to 17.890, Maurel Et Prom (PARIS:MAUP) which was up 3.89% to settle at 7.17 and Alten (PARIS:LTEN) which gained 3.45% to close at 37.15.
The worst performers were Aeroports De Paris SA (PARIS:ADP) which was down 4.23% to 106.40 in late trade, Soitec (PARIS:SOIT) which lost 3.26% to settle at 0.890 and Orange SA (PARIS:ORAN) which was down 2.95% to 15.62 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 484 to 421 and 46 ended unchanged on the Paris Stock Exchange.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was up 9.11% to 23.22.
In commodities trading, Gold for April delivery was up 1.57% or 19.70 to $1275.60 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude Oil for delivery in March rose 2.00% or 0.89 to hit $45.42 a barrel, while the March Brent Oil contract rose 1.21% or 0.59 to trade at $49.73 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.18% to 1.1298, while EUR/GBP rose 0.10% to 0.7520.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.07% at 95.03.
