Investing.com – France equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Pharmaceuticals & Biotech, Healthcare and Real Estate sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 gained 1.94%, while the SBF 120 index climbed 1.87%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the CAC 40 were Vivendi (PARIS:VIV), which rose 3.79% or 0.89 points to trade at 24.27 at the close. Airbus Group (PARIS:AIR) added 3.11% or 1.88 points to end at 62.28 and Credit Agricole (PARIS:CAGR) was up 3.01% or 0.410 points to 14.020 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Peugeot SA (PARIS:PEUP), which lost 0.62% or 0.12 points to trade at 18.41 in late trade. Valeo (PARIS:VLOF) added 0.34% or 0.45 points to end at 132.45 and Bouygues (PARIS:BOUY) gained 0.51% or 0.16 points to 31.73.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Adocia (PARIS:ADOC) which rose 7.44% to 78.750, Montupet SA (PARIS:MNTP) which was up 3.90% to settle at 68.260 and Euronext (PARIS:ENX) which gained 3.81% to close at 39.40.
The worst performers were Eramet (PARIS:ERMT) which was down 2.22% to 64.00 in late trade, GTT (PARIS:GTT) which lost 1.57% to settle at 56.29 and Faurecia (PARIS:EPED) which was down 1.33% to 37.05 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 635 to 177 and 55 ended unchanged on the Paris Stock Exchange.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was down 18.01% to 22.58.
In commodities trading, Gold for August delivery was down 0.16% or 1.80 to $1156.10 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August rose 0.34% or 0.18 to hit $52.92 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract fell 0.07% or 0.04 to trade at $58.96 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 1.16% to 1.1029, while EUR/GBP fell 1.11% to 0.7109.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.86% at 96.78.
