Investing.com – France equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Aerospace & Defense, Automobiles & Parts and Media sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 added 0.14%, while the SBF 120 index added 0.17%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the CAC 40 were Lafarge (PARIS:LAFP), which rose 3.80% or 2.39 points to trade at 65.33 at the close. Peugeot SA (PARIS:PEUP) added 3.24% or 0.53 points to end at 16.90 and Schneider Electric (PARIS:SCHN) was up 2.89% or 1.88 points to 66.84 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Alcatel-Lucent (PARIS:ALUA), which lost 9.66% or 0.337 points to trade at 3.151 in late trade. Kering (PARIS:PRTP) declined 2.63% or 4.45 points to end at 165.05 and BNP Paribas Act. A (PARIS:BNPP) shed 1.59% or 0.91 points to 56.44.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Ingenico (PARIS:INGC) which rose 7.58% to 112.10, Genfit (PARIS:GNFT) which was up 6.60% to settle at 38.920 and JC Decaux SA (PARIS:JCDX) which gained 4.55% to close at 35.29.
The worst performers were STMicroelectronics (PARIS:STM) which was down 13.29% to 7.120 in late trade, Alcatel-Lucent (PARIS:ALUA) which lost 9.66% to settle at 3.151 and Vallourec (PARIS:VLLP) which was down 9.25% to 21.00 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 451 to 446 and 59 ended unchanged on the Paris Stock Exchange.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was down 8.78% to 21.01.
In commodities trading, Gold for June delivery was down 2.53% or 30.60 to $1179.40 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in June rose 1.06% or 0.62 to hit $59.20 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract rose 1.09% or 0.71 to trade at $66.56 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.53% to 1.1187, while EUR/GBP rose 1.35% to 0.7305.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.12% at 95.19.
