Investing.com – Brazil equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the Real Estate, Public Utilities and Consumption sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa fell 0.50%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Bovespa were Fibria Celulose SA (SA:FIBR3), which rose 7.32% or 1.53 points to trade at 22.43 at the close. Suzano Papel e Celulose SA (SA:SUZB5) added 5.47% or 0.52 points to end at 10.02 and Companhia Brasileira deDistribuicao (SA:PCAR4) was up 3.70% or 2.00 points to 56.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Qualicorp SA (SA:QUAL3), which lost 5.12% or 1.01 points to trade at 18.72 in late trade. Kroton Educacional SA (SA:KROT3) declined 4.87% or 0.760 points to end at 14.860 and Estacio Participacoes SA (SA:ESTC3) shed 4.20% or 0.80 points to 18.25.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 176 to 173 and 29 ended unchanged on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was up 2.01% to 32.91.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was down 0.25% or 3.35 to $1341.35 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November fell 3.50% or 1.62 to hit $44.70 a barrel, while the December US coffee C contract fell 1.96% or 3.03 to trade at $151.77 .
USD/BRL was up 0.62% to 3.2414, while EUR/BRL rose 0.82% to 3.6407.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.07% at 95.38.
