Investing.com – Brazil equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Real Estate, Public Utilities and Financials sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa declined 0.35%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Bovespa were Marfrig Alimentos SA (SA:MRFG3), which rose 3.85% or 0.15 points to trade at 4.05 at the close. Kroton Educacional SA (SA:KROT3) added 3.75% or 0.450 points to end at 12.450 and Gerdau SA (SA:GGBR4) was up 3.57% or 0.30 points to 8.71 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Even Construtora e Incorporadora SA (SA:EVEN3), which lost 5.54% or 0.20 points to trade at 3.41 in late trade. Duratex SA (SA:DTEX3) declined 3.72% or 0.31 points to end at 8.02 and Gafisa SA (SA:GFSA3) shed 3.72% or 0.090 points to 2.330.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 156 to 140 and 7 ended unchanged on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was up 1.12% to 30.63.
In commodities trading, Gold for August delivery was down 0.47% or 5.60 to $1181.00 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in July fell 1.33% or 0.81 to hit $60.62 a barrel, while the July US coffee C contract fell 3.10% or 4.22 to trade at $131.85 .
USD/BRL was down 0.81% to 3.0939, while EUR/BRL fell 1.30% to 3.4862.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.41% at 94.97.
