Investing.com – Brazil equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Real Estate, Basic Materials and Public Utilities sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa fell 0.28%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Bovespa were Cosan SA Industria e Comercio (SA:CSAN3), which rose 2.92% or 1.03 points to trade at 36.29 at the close. Qualicorp SA (SA:QUAL3) added 2.38% or 0.54 points to end at 23.20 and BB Seguridade Participacoes SA (SA:BBSE3) was up 2.37% or 0.69 points to 29.86 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Centrais Eletricas Brasileiras SA (SA:ELET6), which lost 4.46% or 0.89 points to trade at 19.05 in late trade. Cia Paranaense de Energia (SA:CPLE6) declined 3.95% or 1.05 points to end at 25.50 and Cia Siderurgica Nacional SA (SA:CSNA3) shed 3.24% or 0.24 points to 7.16.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 218 to 184 and 33 ended unchanged on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was up 1.43% to 31.81.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was down 0.01% or 0.09 to $1226.81 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in June rose 0.61% or 0.28 to hit $46.50 a barrel, while the July US coffee C contract rose 0.79% or 1.08 to trade at $136.93 .
USD/BRL was up 0.64% to 3.1979, while EUR/BRL fell 0.01% to 3.4947.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.60% at 99.01.
