A new video from an auto enthusiast shows Italian supercar maker Ferrari NV (NYSE:RACE) testing EV giant Tesla Inc‘s Model S Plaid sedan, to much amusement of car enthusiasts around the globe.

What Happened: A recent video captured by auto enthusiast Varryx on YouTube shows a white Tesla Model S Plaid exiting the gates of Ferrari’s Maranello factory, seemingly driven by employees.

Ferrari aims to have 60 percent of its sales split between fully electric and hybrid cars by 2026. The company currently makes only hybrids and no battery electric cars. Its first fully electric model is expected to be launched only in 2025.

"The first electric Ferrari will be rooted in our racing heritage and will draw from a broader technical reservoir while preserving all its authenticity and consistency," Ferrari CEO Benedetto Vigna previously said.

The company is presently constructing a new building focused on manufacturing electric motors, battery packs, and power inverters in its hometown.

Benzinga reached out to Ferrari for confirmation on whether its new EV would also be a sedan like the Model S Plaid. However, Ferrari hasn’t reached back as of the time of publishing.

The Model S Plaid, meanwhile, is touted by Tesla as the quickest-accelerating car in production today. The vehicle can go from zero to 60 mph in 1.99 seconds.
