Investing.com – United Arab Emirates equities were mixed at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Consumer Staples, Transport and Banking sectors propelled shares higher while losses in the Real Estate & Construction, Insurance and Services sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Dubai, the DFM General rose 0.81%, while the ADX General index declined 0.02%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DFM General were ARAMEX PJSC (DU:ARMX), which rose 7.00% or 0.350 points to trade at 5.350 at the close. DXB Entertainments (P.J.S.C.) (DU:DXBE) added 6.11% or 0.061 points to end at 1.060 and Emirates NBD PJSC (DU:ENBD) was up 2.09% or 0.170 points to 8.300 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Dubai Islamic Insurance Co. (DU:AMAN), which lost 1.69% or 0.016 points to trade at 0.933 in late trade. Union Properties PJSC (DU:UPRO) declined 0.99% or 0.010 points to end at 1.000 and Air Arabia PJSC (DU:AIRA) shed 0.83% or 0.010 points to 1.190.
The top performers on the ADX General were United Arab Bk (AD:UAB) which rose 10.78% to 1.850, Gulf Cement Co (AD:GCEM) which was up 6.86% to settle at 1.0900 and Sharjah Islami (AD:SIB) which gained 1.95% to close at 1.570.
The worst performers were Rak Cement Co (AD:RKCC) which was down 10.00% to 0.810 in late trade, Ad Shipbldg Co (AD:ADSB) which lost 6.96% to settle at 2.540 and Int Fish Farmi (AD:ASMK) which was down 1.46% to 2.02 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 16 to 14 and 5 ended unchanged; on the Abu Dhabi, 10 rose and 8 declined, while 8 ended unchanged on the Dubai Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for April delivery was down 0.77% or 0.41 to $52.73 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in May fell 0.63% or 0.35 to hit $55.57 a barrel, while the April Gold Futures contract fell 0.24% or 2.95 to trade at $1213.15 a troy ounce.
USD/AED was up 0.01% to 3.6729, while EUR/AED fell 0.07% to 3.8784.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.11% at 101.92.
