Investing.com – United Arab Emirates equities were mixed at the close on Sunday, as gains in the Insurance, Services and Consumer Staples sectors propelled shares higher while losses in the Banking, Real Estate & Construction and Transport sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Dubai, the DFM General lost 0.43%, while the ADX General index gained 0.32%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DFM General were Dubai Islamic Insurance Co. (DU:AMAN), which rose 6.46% or 0.044 points to trade at 0.725 at the close. Islamic Arab Insurance Company (DU:SALAMA) added 3.06% or 0.018 points to end at 0.607 and Takaful Emarat PSC (DU:TKFE) was up 2.87% or 0.050 points to 1.790 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Union Properties PJSC (DU:UPRO), which lost 4.31% or 0.050 points to trade at 1.110 in late trade. Emaar Malls Group (DU:EMAA) declined 1.59% or 0.05 points to end at 3.09 and SHUAA Capital PSC (DU:SHUA) shed 1.29% or 0.008 points to 0.612.
The top performers on the ADX General were Ad Natl Energy (AD:TAQA) which rose 4.55% to 0.690, Ad Commercial (AD:ADCB) which was up 4.27% to settle at 8.80 and Methaq (AD:METH) which gained 2.70% to close at 1.140.
The worst performers were Invest Bank AD (AD:INVB) which was down 2.26% to 2.60 in late trade, Dana Gas (AD:DANA) which lost 1.64% to settle at 0.600 and Rak Cement Co (AD:RKCC) which was down 1.14% to 0.870 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 15 to 10 and 4 ended unchanged; on the Abu Dhabi, 11 rose and 5 declined, while 4 ended unchanged on the Dubai Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for September delivery was down 0.28% or 0.12 to $43.74 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in October fell 0.18% or 0.09 to hit $49.15 a barrel, while the December Gold contract unchanged 0.00% or 0.00 to trade at $1094.10 a troy ounce.
USD/AED was up 0.01% to 3.6731, while EUR/AED rose 0.03% to 4.0279.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.08% at 97.74.
