United Arab Emirates shares lower at close of trade; DFM General down 1.56%

Investing.com – United Arab Emirates equities were lower at the close on Sunday, as losses in the Consumer Staples, Banking and Services sectors propelled shares lower.

At the close in Dubai, the DFM General lost 1.56%, while the ADX General index declined 0.69%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the DFM General were Gulf Navigation Holding PJSC (DU:GNAV), which rose 2.93% or 0.026 points to trade at 0.914 at the close. Drake & Scull International PJSC (DU:DSI) added 1.02% or 0.005 points to end at 0.495 and Dubai Islamic Insurance Co. (DU:AMAN) was unchanged 0.00% or 0.000 points to 0.650 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Emirates NBD PJSC (DU:ENBD), which lost 2.95% or 0.230 points to trade at 7.560 in late trade. Dubai Parks and Resorts PJSC (DU:DUBA) declined 2.31% or 0.030 points to end at 1.270 and Emaar Properties PJSC (DU:EMAR) shed 2.16% or 0.130 points to 5.890.

The top performers on the ADX General were Int Fish Farmi (AD:ASMK) which rose 5.48% to 7.70, Ad Shipbldg Co (AD:ADSB) which was up 0.33% to settle at 3.00 and Emirates Ins C (AD:EIC) which unchanged 0.00% to close at 6.72.

The worst performers were Agthia Group (AD:AGTH) which was down 6.26% to 7.19 in late trade, Arkan Bld Mt C (AD:ARKN) which lost 5.05% to settle at 0.94 and Bank Of Sharja (AD:BOS) which was down 3.45% to 1.40 at the close.

Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 21 to 3 and 1 ended unchanged; on the Abu Dhabi, 18 fell and 2 advanced, while 5 ended unchanged on the Dubai Stock Exchange.

In commodities trading, Crude oil for May delivery was down 4.33% or 1.66 to $36.68 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in June fell 4.19% or 1.69 to hit $38.64 a barrel, while the June Gold contract fell 0.91% or 11.30 to trade at $1224.30 a troy ounce.

USD/AED was down 0.00% to 3.6730, while EUR/AED rose 0.12% to 4.1850.

The US Dollar Index was down 0.07% at 94.58.
