United Arab Emirates shares lower at close of trade; DFM General down 1.15%

Investing.com – United Arab Emirates equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Real Estate & Construction, Finance & Investment and Services sectors propelled shares lower.

At the close in Dubai, the DFM General lost 1.15% to hit a new 1-month low, while the ADX General index lost 0.88%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the DFM General were DXB Entertainments (P.J.S.C.) (DU:DXBE), which rose 9.43% or 0.100 points to trade at 1.160 at the close. SHUAA Capital PSC (DU:SHUA) added 2.29% or 0.040 points to end at 1.790 and Takaful Emarat PSC (DU:TKFE) was up 0.40% or 0.010 points to 2.530 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Arabtec Holding PJSC (DU:ARTC), which lost 9.91% or 0.099 points to trade at 0.900 in late trade. Takaful House (DU:DTKF) declined 4.88% or 0.060 points to end at 1.170 and Drake & Scull International PJSC (DU:DSI) shed 3.70% or 0.018 points to 0.469.

The top performers on the ADX General were Sharjah Cement AD (AD:SCID) which rose 3.92% to 1.060, Rak Ceramics (AD:RKCE) which was up 3.56% to settle at 2.330 and Bank Of Sharja (AD:BOS) which gained 2.17% to close at 1.410.

The worst performers were Rak Cmt & Cons (AD:RAKC) which was down 9.52% to 1.140 in late trade, Green Crs Ins (AD:GCIC) which lost 9.41% to settle at 0.770 and Gulf Cement Co (AD:GCEM) which was down 5.41% to 1.0500 at the close.

Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 29 to 5 and 2 ended unchanged; on the Abu Dhabi, 22 fell and 5 advanced, while 3 ended unchanged on the Dubai Stock Exchange.

In commodities trading, Crude oil for April delivery was up 0.58% or 0.31 to $54.09 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in April rose 0.75% or 0.42 to hit $56.23 a barrel, while the April Gold Futures contract fell 0.21% or 2.60 to trade at $1236.50 a troy ounce.

USD/AED was unchanged 0.00% to 3.6729, while EUR/AED rose 0.08% to 3.9003.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.06% at 100.83.
