Investing.com – United Arab Emirates equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Consumer Staples, Insurance and Finance & Investment sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Dubai, the DFM General declined 1.11% to hit a new 3-month low, while the ADX General index fell 0.63%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DFM General were Takaful Emarat PSC (DU:TKFE), which rose 5.43% or 0.120 points to trade at 2.330 at the close. Amanat Holdings PJSC (DU:AMANT) added 0.90% or 0.010 points to end at 1.120 and Emirate Integrated Telecom Co PJSC (DU:DU) was unchanged 0.00% or 0.000 points to 5.410 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Marka Pjse (DU:MARKA), which lost 10.00% or 0.09 points to trade at 0.79 in late trade. Gulf General Investments Company (DU:GGIC) declined 7.25% or 0.030 points to end at 0.384 and SHUAA Capital PSC (DU:SHUA) shed 6.62% or 0.100 points to 1.410.
The top performers on the ADX General were Al Khaleej Investment Co PJSC (AD:KICO) which rose 4.17% to 1.25, Rak Ceramics (AD:RKCE) which was up 2.13% to settle at 2.400 and Int Fish Farmi (AD:ASMK) which gained 0.63% to close at 1.60.
The worst performers were Rak Cement Co (AD:RKCC) which was down 7.14% to 0.780 in late trade, Abu Dhabi National for Building Materials Co PJSC (AD:BILD) which lost 5.45% to settle at 0.520 and Ad Natl Energy (AD:TAQA) which was down 3.28% to 0.590 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 32 to 5 and 4 ended unchanged; on the Abu Dhabi, 14 fell and 5 advanced, while 6 ended unchanged on the Dubai Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for June delivery was up 2.95% or 1.41 to $49.25 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in July rose 2.83% or 1.44 to hit $52.28 a barrel, while the June Gold Futures contract rose 0.31% or 3.82 to trade at $1231.52 a troy ounce.
USD/AED was up 0.01% to 3.6732, while EUR/AED rose 0.34% to 4.0290.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.29% at 98.76.
