Investing.com – United Arab Emirates equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Finance & Investment, Real Estate & Construction and Consumer Staples sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Dubai, the DFM General declined 0.89% to hit a new 3-month low, while the ADX General index declined 2.21%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DFM General were Takaful Emarat PSC (DU:TKFE), which rose 4.83% or 0.130 points to trade at 2.820 at the close. Dubai Islamic Insurance Co. (DU:AMAN) added 2.72% or 0.014 points to end at 0.529 and Dubai National Insurance (DU:DNIN) was up 2.40% or 0.060 points to 2.560 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Marka Pjse (DU:MARKA), which lost 6.90% or 0.08 points to trade at 1.08 in late trade. Dubai Investments PJSC (DU:DINV) declined 2.50% or 0.050 points to end at 1.950 and ARAMEX PJSC (DU:ARMX) shed 2.42% or 0.090 points to 3.630.
The top performers on the ADX General were Methaq (AD:METH) which rose 2.50% to 0.820, Ad Natl Ins Co (AD:ADNI) which was up 2.38% to settle at 2.150 and Gulf Pharm Ind (AD:GPHI) which gained 0.46% to close at 2.200.
The worst performers were Nat Bk Qaiwain (AD:NBQ) which was down 8.06% to 2.85 in late trade, First Gulf Bk (AD:FGB) which lost 4.93% to settle at 10.60 and Rak Cement Co (AD:RKCC) which was down 3.80% to 0.760 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 24 to 10 and 5 ended unchanged; on the Abu Dhabi, 14 fell and 4 advanced, while 9 ended unchanged on the Dubai Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for November delivery was down 0.12% or 0.06 to $50.29 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in December rose 0.12% or 0.06 to hit $52.01 a barrel, while the December Gold contract fell 0.08% or 0.95 to trade at $1254.55 a troy ounce.
USD/AED was unchanged 0.00% to 3.6730, while EUR/AED rose 0.21% to 4.0385.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.09% at 97.99.
