Investing.com – United Arab Emirates equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Transport, Finance & Investment and Insurance sectors propelled shares lower.

At the close in Dubai, the DFM General declined 0.51%, while the ADX General index lost 0.43%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the DFM General were Mashreqbank PSC (DU:MASB), which rose 4.29% or 3.00 points to trade at 73.00 at the close. National Central Cooling Co. (DU:TABR) added 2.92% or 0.040 points to end at 1.410 and Marka Pjse (DU:MARKA) was up 0.87% or 0.01 points to 1.16 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Takaful House (DU:DTKF), which lost 3.35% or 0.017 points to trade at 0.490 in late trade. ARAMEX PJSC (DU:ARMX) declined 2.69% or 0.090 points to end at 3.260 and Deyaar Development PJSC (DU:DEYR) shed 1.92% or 0.012 points to 0.613.

The top performers on the ADX General were Invest Bank AD (AD:INVB) which rose 4.27% to 2.200, Int Fish Farmi (AD:ASMK) which was up 1.91% to settle at 1.60 and Ad Islamic Bk (AD:ADIB) which gained 0.54% to close at 3.730.

The worst performers were Natl Bk Of Ad (AD:NBAD) which was down 2.68% to 8.00 in late trade, Eshraq Properties Co PJSC (AD:ESHR) which lost 2.50% to settle at 0.7800 and Abu Dhabi National for Building Materials Co PJSC (AD:BILD) which was down 2.08% to 0.470 at the close.

Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 24 to 7 and 2 ended unchanged; on the Abu Dhabi, 11 fell and 4 advanced, while 10 ended unchanged on the Dubai Stock Exchange.

In commodities trading, Crude oil for July delivery was down 1.46% or 0.70 to $47.31 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in August fell 1.45% or 0.71 to hit $48.26 a barrel, while the August Gold contract rose 1.58% or 20.35 to trade at $1308.65 a troy ounce.

USD/AED was down 0.00% to 3.6730, while EUR/AED fell 0.66% to 4.1089.

The US Dollar Index was up 0.44% at 95.09.
