United Arab Emirates shares lower at close of trade; DFM General down 0.05%

Investing.com – United Arab Emirates equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Services, Transport and Insurance sectors propelled shares lower.

At the close in Dubai, the DFM General fell 0.05% to hit a new 52-week low, while the ADX General index declined 1.87%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the DFM General were Takaful Emarat PSC (DU:TKFE), which rose 5.41% or 0.100 points to trade at 1.950 at the close. Dubai Investments PJSC (DU:DINV) added 1.83% or 0.040 points to end at 2.230 and Amlak Finance PJSC (DU:AMLK) was up 1.22% or 0.011 points to 0.910 in late trade.

Biggest losers included National Central Cooling Co. (DU:TABR), which lost 2.79% or 0.050 points to trade at 1.740 in late trade. Gulf General Investments Company (DU:GGIC) declined 2.50% or 0.009 points to end at 0.351 and Takaful House (DU:DTKF) shed 1.77% or 0.013 points to 0.720.

The top performers on the ADX General were Gulf Cement Co (AD:GCEM) which rose 2.83% to 1.0900, Emirates Telec (AD:ETEL) which was up 2.60% to settle at 17.75 and National Takaful Co PJSC (AD:WATA) which gained 2.08% to close at 0.49.

The worst performers were Em Driving Co (AD:DRIV) which was down 6.52% to 8.60 in late trade, First Abu Dhabi Bank PJSC (AD:FAB) which lost 6.47% to settle at 10.85 and Agthia Group (AD:AGTH) which was down 5.21% to 4.00 at the close.

Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 21 to 8 and 9 ended unchanged; on the Abu Dhabi, 12 fell and 7 advanced, while 8 ended unchanged on the Dubai Stock Exchange.

In commodities trading, Crude oil for April delivery was up 0.50% or 0.31 to $62.88 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in May rose 0.37% or 0.24 to hit $65.78 a barrel, while the April Gold Futures contract rose 0.43% or 5.70 to trade at $1325.60 a troy ounce.

USD/AED was down 0.00% to 3.6730, while EUR/AED rose 0.11% to 4.5356.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.08% at 89.89.
