Investing.com – United Arab Emirates equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Insurance, Consumer Staples and Real Estate & Construction sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Dubai, the DFM General added 1.80%, while the ADX General index climbed 1.24%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DFM General were Dubai Islamic Insurance Co. (DU:AMAN), which rose 14.92% or 0.108 points to trade at 0.832 at the close. Islamic Arab Insurance Company (DU:SALAMA) added 11.19% or 0.067 points to end at 0.666 and National Cement Company P.S.C. (DU:NCC) was up 10.34% or 0.300 points to 3.200 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Takaful Emarat PSC (DU:TKFE), which lost 6.32% or 0.160 points to trade at 2.370 in late trade. Takaful House (DU:DTKF) declined 1.36% or 0.020 points to end at 1.450 and Gulf General Investments Company (DU:GGIC) shed 0.38% or 0.002 points to 0.524.
The top performers on the ADX General were Al Khazna Ins (AD:AKIC) which rose 4.88% to 0.430, Ad Commercial (AD:ADCB) which was up 4.38% to settle at 7.15 and Eshraq Properties Co PJSC (AD:ESHR) which gained 3.92% to close at 1.0600.
The worst performers were Gulf Cement Co (AD:GCEM) which was down 7.00% to 0.9300 in late trade, Ad Shipbldg Co (AD:ADSB) which lost 4.36% to settle at 2.850 and Int Fish Farmi (AD:ASMK) which was down 2.93% to 1.99 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 31 to 7 and 4 ended unchanged; on the Abu Dhabi, 17 rose and 6 declined, while 5 ended unchanged on the Dubai Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for February delivery was up 2.33% or 1.25 to $54.97 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in March rose 2.29% or 1.30 to hit $58.12 a barrel, while the February Gold contract fell 0.32% or 3.65 to trade at $1148.05 a troy ounce.
USD/AED was unchanged 0.00% to 3.6731, while EUR/AED fell 0.55% to 3.8187.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.95% at 103.34.
