Investing.com – United Arab Emirates equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Consumer Staples, Services and Real Estate & Construction sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Dubai, the DFM General gained 0.62%, while the ADX General index climbed 0.38%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DFM General were DXB Entertainments (P.J.S.C.) (DU:DXBE), which rose 5.26% or 0.060 points to trade at 1.200 at the close. Amanat Holdings PJSC (DU:AMANT) added 3.85% or 0.040 points to end at 1.080 and National Central Cooling Co. (DU:TABR) was up 3.68% or 0.070 points to 1.970 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Mashreqbank PSC (DU:MASB), which lost 10.00% or 10.00 points to trade at 90.05 in late trade. Emirates NBD PJSC (DU:ENBD) declined 1.71% or 0.150 points to end at 8.600 and Takaful Emarat PSC (DU:TKFE) shed 1.26% or 0.030 points to 2.350.
The top performers on the ADX General were Nat Bk Qaiwain (AD:NBQ) which rose 10.34% to 3.20, Green Crs Ins (AD:GCIC) which was up 7.59% to settle at 0.850 and Waha Capital (AD:WAHA) which gained 5.29% to close at 2.390.
The worst performers were Int Fish Farmi (AD:ASMK) which was down 9.75% to 3.24 in late trade, Abu Dhabi National for Building Materials Co PJSC (AD:BILD) which lost 2.99% to settle at 0.650 and Gulf Cement Co (AD:GCEM) which was down 2.06% to 0.9500 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 32 to 5 and 3 ended unchanged; on the Abu Dhabi, 17 rose and 7 declined, while 4 ended unchanged on the Dubai Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for March delivery was up 0.32% or 0.17 to $52.92 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in March rose 0.51% or 0.28 to hit $55.36 a barrel, while the February Gold contract fell 0.44% or 5.30 to trade at $1192.50 a troy ounce.
USD/AED was down 0.01% to 3.6728, while EUR/AED fell 0.21% to 3.9398.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.28% at 100.19.
