Investing.com – United Arab Emirates equities were higher at the close on Sunday, as gains in the Consumer Staples, Banking and Transport sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Dubai, the DFM General added 0.01%, while the ADX General index gained 0.75%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DFM General were Marka Pjse (DU:MARKA), which rose 4.38% or 0.06 points to trade at 1.43 at the close. SHUAA Capital PSC (DU:SHUA) added 3.27% or 0.050 points to end at 1.580 and Emaar Malls (DU:EMAA) was up 2.66% or 0.070 points to 2.700 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Oman Insurance Company P.S.C. (DU:OIC), which lost 7.14% or 0.100 points to trade at 1.300 in late trade. Arabtec Holding PJSC (DU:ARTC) declined 2.19% or 0.030 points to end at 1.340 and National Central Cooling Co. (DU:TABR) shed 1.95% or 0.040 points to 2.010.
The top performers on the ADX General were Abu Dhabi National for Building Materials Co PJSC (AD:BILD) which rose 11.11% to 0.600, Abu Dhabi National Hotels Co (AD:ADNH) which was up 10.38% to settle at 3.19 and Gulf Medical Projects Co PSC (AD:GMPC) which gained 4.53% to close at 3.00.
The worst performers were Bank Of Sharja (AD:BOS) which was down 3.70% to 1.300 in late trade, Natl Bk Of Rak (AD:RAKB) which lost 3.61% to settle at 4.81 and Int Fish Farmi (AD:ASMK) which was down 2.86% to 1.70 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 16 to 14 and 9 ended unchanged; on the Abu Dhabi, 15 rose and 9 declined, while 3 ended unchanged on the Dubai Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for February delivery was unchanged 0.00% or 0.00 to $52.95 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in February rose 2.41% or 1.30 to hit $55.32 a barrel, while the February Gold contract rose 0.61% or 6.85 to trade at $1136.65 a troy ounce.
USD/AED was up 0.00% to 3.6731, while EUR/AED rose 0.33% to 3.8388.
The US Dollar Index was unchanged 0.00% at 102.92.
