The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Fresnillo PLC (LON:FRES), which rose 4.91% or 27.20 points to trade at 581.60 at the close. Ashtead Group PLC (LON:AHT) added 4.23% or 94.00 points to end at 2314.00 and Pearson PLC (LON:PSON) was up 1.86% or 11.80 points to 645.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Micro Focus International PLC (LON:MCRO), which lost 4.57% or 48.20 points to trade at 1007.20 in late trade. Auto Trader Group Plc (LON:AUTOA) declined 3.00% or 16.60 points to end at 537.40 and RSA Insurance Group PLC (LON:RSA) shed 2.60% or 14.20 points to 531.00.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1123 to 1011 and 194 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for February delivery was up 0.47% or 6.95 to $1475.05 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in January fell 0.91% or 0.54 to hit $58.70 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract fell 1.13% or 0.73 to trade at $63.61 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.13% to 1.3172, while EUR/GBP fell 0.11% to 0.8421.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.01% at 97.395.
