Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Electronic & Electrical Equipment, Software & Computer Services and Forestry & Paper sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 declined 0.47% to hit a new 1-month low.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were HSBC Holdings PLC (LON:HSBA), which rose 4.24% or 29.10 points to trade at 715.50 at the close. SKY PLC (LON:SKYB) added 3.29% or 31.50 points to end at 988.00 and Rio Tinto PLC (LON:RIO) was up 2.44% or 77.00 points to 3232.50 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Micro Focus International (LON:MCRO), which lost 3.79% or 90.00 points to trade at 2285.00 in late trade. Coca Cola HBC AG (LON:CCH) declined 3.64% or 85.0 points to end at 2251.0 and International Consolidated Airlines Group S.A. (LON:ICAG) shed 3.57% or 22.50 points to 607.50.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1265 to 681 and 447 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.38% or 4.77 to $1244.33 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August rose 0.63% or 0.28 to hit $45.02 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract rose 0.44% or 0.21 to trade at $47.75 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.42% to 1.2981, while EUR/GBP fell 0.05% to 0.8797.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.31% at 95.48.
