Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Oil Equipment Services & Distribution, Technology Hardware & Equipment and Life Insurance/Assurance sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 added 0.85%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Weir Group PLC (LONDON:WEIR), which rose 4.85% or 60.00 points to trade at 1298.00 at the close. ARM Holdings PLC (LONDON:ARM) added 3.43% or 32.50 points to end at 980.50 and SABMiller PLC (LONDON:SAB) was up 2.76% or 81.00 points to 3014.50 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Kingfisher PLC (LONDON:KGF), which lost 2.50% or 9.00 points to trade at 351.30 in late trade. Vodafone Group PLC (LONDON:VOD) declined 1.27% or 2.8000 points to end at 218.4500 and Tui AG (LONDON:TUIT) shed 1.15% or 14.00 points to 1201.00.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1162 to 975 and 455 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was down 0.38% or 4.20 to $1103.50 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in October rose 1.98% or 0.87 to hit $44.87 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract fell 0.03% or 0.01 to trade at $47.34 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.49% to 1.5351, while EUR/GBP rose 0.07% to 0.7341.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.42% at 95.79.
