Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Technology Hardware & Equipment, Software & Computer Services and Insurance sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 gained 0.41% to hit a new 6-month high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were ARM Holdings PLC (LON:ARM), which rose 40.88% or 486.00 points to trade at 1675.00 at the close. Aberdeen Asset Management PLC (LON:ADN) added 3.71% or 11.40 points to end at 318.50 and Royal Bank of Scotland Group PLC (LON:RBS) was up 3.15% or 5.800 points to 189.800 in late trade.
Biggest losers included BHP Billiton PLC (LON:BLT), which lost 1.98% or 19.70 points to trade at 976.80 in late trade. Tui AG (LON:TUIT) declined 1.98% or 19.00 points to end at 942.50 and BP PLC (LON:BP) shed 1.72% or 7.8500 points to 449.3000.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1388 to 723 and 420 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for August delivery was up 0.00% or 0.05 to $1327.45 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September fell 1.35% or 0.63 to hit $46.02 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract fell 1.24% or 0.59 to trade at $47.02 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.75% to 1.3281, while EUR/GBP fell 0.29% to 0.8343.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.21% at 96.50.
