Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Technology Hardware & Equipment, Real Estate Investment Trusts REITs and Real Estate sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 added 0.16%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Royal Bank of Scotland Group PLC (LON:RBS), which rose 3.50% or 6.300 points to trade at 186.300 at the close. Barclays PLC (LON:BARC) added 3.21% or 5.70 points to end at 183.10 and Standard Chartered PLC (LON:STAN) was up 2.03% or 13.900 points to 699.200 in late trade.
Biggest losers included ITV PLC (LON:ITV), which lost 3.67% or 6.60 points to trade at 173.20 in late trade. SKY PLC (LON:SKYB) declined 3.62% or 31.00 points to end at 825.00 and WPP PLC (LON:WPP) shed 3.57% or 65.00 points to 1755.00.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1170 to 1096 and 470 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was down 0.15% or 1.95 to $1267.95 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in December fell 1.89% or 0.98 to hit $50.84 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract fell 2.13% or 1.12 to trade at $51.55 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.20% to 1.2266, while EUR/GBP fell 0.19% to 0.8911.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.38% at 98.24.
