Investing.com – Turkey equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Basic Metals, Chemical, Petroleum & Plastic and Electricity sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Istanbul, the BIST 100 lost 1.42%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BIST 100 were Ihlas Holding (IS:IHLAS), which rose 12.50% or 0.030 points to trade at 0.270 at the close. Dogan Holding (IS:DOHOL) added 2.08% or 0.010 points to end at 0.490 and Kartonsan (IS:KARTN) was up 1.88% or 5.00 points to 271.40 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Pegasus (IS:PGSUS), which lost 5.83% or 0.860 points to trade at 13.900 in late trade. Gubre Fabrik. (IS:GUBRF) declined 4.63% or 0.27 points to end at 5.56 and Tekfen Holding (IS:TKFEN) shed 4.28% or 0.31 points to 6.94.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 244 to 103 and 62 ended unchanged on the Istanbul Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for August delivery was up 0.84% or 10.55 to $1272.85 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in July fell 1.31% or 0.67 to hit $50.56 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract fell 1.07% or 0.56 to trade at $51.95 a barrel.
USD/TRY was up 0.17% to 2.8977, while EUR/TRY fell 0.47% to 3.2831.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.45% at 94.01.
