Investing.com – Turkey equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Banking, Non-Metal Mineral Products and Electricity sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Istanbul, the BIST 100 added 1.30% to hit a new 1-month high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BIST 100 were Afyon Cimento (IS:AFYON), which rose 13.69% or 0.72 points to trade at 5.98 at the close. Dogan Holding (IS:DOHOL) added 10.91% or 0.060 points to end at 0.610 and Hurriyet Gzt. (IS:HURGZ) was up 6.56% or 0.040 points to 0.650 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Ihlas Holding (IS:IHLAS), which lost 4.17% or 0.010 points to trade at 0.240 in late trade. Turk Telekom (IS:TTKOM) declined 2.42% or 0.16 points to end at 6.45 and Sasa Polyester (IS:SASA) shed 2.31% or 0.050 points to 2.110.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 275 to 125 and 9 ended unchanged on the Istanbul Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was up 1.02% or 11.90 to $1177.30 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November fell 1.03% or 0.48 to hit $46.18 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract fell 0.52% or 0.26 to trade at $49.43 a barrel.
USD/TRY was down 1.20% to 2.9223, while EUR/TRY fell 0.65% to 3.3447.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.58% at 94.25.
