Benzinga - by Anan Ashraf, Benzinga Editor. As Vietnamese EV Maker VinFast is all set to begin trading on the Nasdaq on Tuesday, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has listed the company’s vehicles on the website with disappointing range.

What Happened: According to the EPA website, the Vinfast VF 8 City Edition Eco trim has a total range of 207 miles, while the Plus trim has a range of 191 miles. VinFast entered the U.S. market with the delivery of 45 VF 8 City Edition SUVs in March.

In May, the company announced the arrival of the second shipment comprising 1,879 VF 8 vehicles with a range of 264 miles for the Eco trim and 243 miles for the Plus trim, as per the company statement. These vehicles, however, are yet to be listed on the EPA website.

Why It Matters: VinFast vehicles are priced around the Tesla (NASDAQ:TSLA) Model Y. The base model of the Model Y is priced at $47,740, while the VF8 starts at $46,000. However, all Model Y purchases qualify for a $7,500 federal tax credit.

Despite being in the same price range, Vinfast vehicles offer a driving range much below the Model Y. The base Model Y has a range of 269-279 miles, Performance offers 303 miles, and Model Y Long Range 318-330 miles.

VinFast has completed its SPAC merger with Black Spade Acquisition Co (AMEX:BSAQ), and its shares will begin trading on the Nasdaq on Tuesday under ticker symbols VFS.
