Investing.com – Taiwan equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the , Iron & Steel and Cement sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted declined 1.31% to hit a new 1-month low.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Everfocus Elec (TW:5484), which rose 10.00% or 0.39 points to trade at 4.29 at the close. Tong-Hwa Synth (TW:1418) added 9.20% or 0.38 points to end at 4.51 and Sumagh High-Te (TW:1475) was up 6.67% or 0.56 points to 8.95 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Paragon Tech (TW:3518), which lost 9.87% or 2.20 points to trade at 20.10 in late trade. Genesis Photon (TW:3383) declined 9.85% or 0.52 points to end at 4.76 and Cheer Time (TW:3229) shed 9.42% or 1.45 points to 13.95.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 629 to 152 and 68 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for June delivery was up 0.02% or 0.01 to $43.66 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in July fell 0.16% or 0.07 to hit $44.90 a barrel, while the June Gold contract fell 0.66% or 8.55 to trade at $1283.25 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was up 0.42% to 32.337, while TWD/CNY rose 0.05% to 0.1999.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.06% at 93.08.
