Investing.com – Taiwan equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the , Optoelectronic and Glass sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted declined 0.55%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Cheer Time Enterprise Co Ltd (TW:3229), which rose 10.00% or 2.05 points to trade at 22.55 at the close. Silitech Technology Corp (TW:3311) added 9.90% or 1.50 points to end at 16.65 and Lung Hwa Electronics Co Ltd (TW:2424) was up 7.25% or 2.25 points to 33.30 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Taimide Tech Inc (TW:3645), which lost 8.99% or 3.90 points to trade at 39.50 in late trade. Hiyes International Co Ltd (TW:2348) declined 8.80% or 2.20 points to end at 22.80 and Foxsemicon Integrated Technology Inc (TW:3413) shed 8.71% or 14.50 points to 152.00.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 690 to 124 and 65 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for July delivery was down 0.88% or 0.41 to $46.05 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in August fell 0.70% or 0.34 to hit $48.38 a barrel, while the August Gold Futures contract rose 0.17% or 2.20 to trade at $1270.80 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.02% to 30.215, while TWD/CNY rose 0.04% to 0.2251.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.11% at 96.86.
