Investing.com – Taiwan equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the , Optoelectronic and Paper & Pulp sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted lost 0.32%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Taliang (TW:3167), which rose 10.00% or 2.60 points to trade at 28.60 at the close. Via Tech (TW:2388) added 9.76% or 1.00 points to end at 11.25 and Cci (TW:6230) was up 6.96% or 9.50 points to 146.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Jye Tai Precision Industrial Co Ltd (TW:6165), which lost 9.74% or 1.50 points to trade at 13.90 in late trade. K Laser (TW:2461) declined 9.59% or 1.85 points to end at 17.45 and Phihong (TW:2457) shed 8.56% or 1.10 points to 11.75.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 526 to 253 and 95 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for February delivery was down 0.46% or 0.25 to $53.74 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in March fell 0.40% or 0.23 to hit $56.87 a barrel, while the February Gold contract rose 0.01% or 0.15 to trade at $1173.55 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was up 0.31% to 32.155, while TWD/CNY unchanged 0.00% to 0.2154.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.21% at 102.38.
