Investing.com – Taiwan equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Hotels, Glass and Auto sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted added 0.30% to hit a new 52-week high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Mercuries Data (TW:2427), which rose 9.96% or 0.72 points to trade at 7.95 at the close. Tri Ocean Text (TW:1472) added 9.96% or 1.15 points to end at 12.70 and Tainan Cayman (TW:5906) was up 9.95% or 0.750 points to 8.290 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Mirle Auto (TW:2464), which lost 9.40% or 4.60 points to trade at 44.35 in late trade. China Tv (TW:9928) declined 5.39% or 0.32 points to end at 5.62 and Chenming Mold (TW:3013) shed 5.11% or 0.80 points to 14.85.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 422 to 323 and 108 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for September delivery was down 0.30% or 0.14 to $45.80 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in September fell 0.26% or 0.12 to hit $46.84 a barrel, while the August Gold contract rose 0.11% or 1.45 to trade at $1330.75 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.00% to 32.008, while TWD/CNY fell 0.10% to 0.2097.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.02% at 96.58.
