Investing.com – Taiwan equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Glass, Cement & Glass and Electronic Parts/Components sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted added 0.28% to hit a new 52-week high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Jye Tai Precision Industrial Co Ltd (TW:6165), which rose 10.00% or 1.50 points to trade at 16.50 at the close. Li Cheng (TW:4426) added 10.00% or 7.90 points to end at 86.90 and Sumagh High-Te (TW:1475) was up 10.00% or 0.80 points to 8.80 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Tatung Co Ltd (TW:2371), which lost 7.63% or 1.40 points to trade at 16.95 in late trade. Pao Lung (TW:1906) declined 7.39% or 2.10 points to end at 26.30 and ISunny Construction Develop (TW:2540) shed 4.52% or 1.15 points to 24.30.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 563 to 219 and 95 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for March delivery was up 0.62% or 0.33 to $53.87 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in April rose 0.48% or 0.27 to hit $56.83 a barrel, while the April Gold Futures contract fell 0.37% or 4.55 to trade at $1214.85 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.18% to 31.039, while TWD/CNY fell 0.23% to 0.2198.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.11% at 99.94.
