Investing.com – Taiwan equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Iron & Steel, Cement and Cement & Glass sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted gained 0.26% to hit a new 3-month high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Gem Terminal (TW:2460), which rose 9.94% or 0.81 points to trade at 8.96 at the close. Accton (TW:2345) added 9.94% or 4.30 points to end at 47.55 and Sintronic Tech (TW:3536) was up 9.91% or 1.10 points to 12.20 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Tong-Hwa Synth (TW:1418), which lost 5.32% or 0.24 points to trade at 4.27 in late trade. Tex-Ray (TW:1467) declined 4.97% or 0.75 points to end at 14.35 and Lily Textile (TW:1443) shed 3.44% or 0.17 points to 4.77.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 501 to 247 and 104 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for August delivery was up 0.45% or 0.22 to $49.21 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in September rose 0.54% or 0.27 to hit $50.62 a barrel, while the August Gold contract rose 1.11% or 14.85 to trade at $1353.85 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.10% to 32.180, while TWD/CNY rose 0.05% to 0.2074.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.03% at 95.69.
