Investing.com – Taiwan equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Paper & Pulp, Iron & Steel and Biotech & Medical Care sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted gained 0.20% to hit a new 1-month high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Tainan Cayman (TW:5906), which rose 10.00% or 0.22 points to trade at 2.42 at the close. Pacific Constr (TW:2506) added 10.00% or 1.65 points to end at 18.15 and Tri Ocean Text (TW:1472) was up 10.00% or 1.25 points to 13.75 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Mosel (TW:2342), which lost 9.76% or 0.24 points to trade at 2.22 in late trade. Hey-Song (TW:1234) declined 8.33% or 2.80 points to end at 30.80 and Goldsun Const (TW:2504) shed 6.85% or 0.61 points to 8.29.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 592 to 247 and 3 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for October delivery was down 0.81% or 0.38 to $46.52 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in November fell 0.33% or 0.16 to hit $48.92 a barrel, while the December Gold contract rose 0.93% or 10.40 to trade at $1127.40 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.19% to 32.318, while TWD/CNY fell 0.30% to 0.1977.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.08% at 94.71.
