Investing.com – Taiwan equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Paper & Pulp, Optoelectronic and Rubber sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted rose 0.15%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Daxin (TW:5234), which rose 9.93% or 3.65 points to trade at 40.40 at the close. Space Shuttle (TW:2440) added 9.91% or 0.87 points to end at 9.65 and Pao Lung (TW:1906) was up 9.89% or 1.75 points to 19.45 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Transasia (TW:6702), which lost 7.89% or 0.06 points to trade at 0.70 in late trade. Nien Made Enterprise Co Ltd (TW:8464) declined 5.34% or 17.00 points to end at 301.50 and Genesis Photon (TW:3383) shed 4.04% or 0.11 points to 2.61.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 405 to 337 and 132 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for February delivery was down 0.28% or 0.15 to $53.61 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in March fell 0.30% or 0.17 to hit $56.72 a barrel, while the February Gold contract fell 0.51% or 6.00 to trade at $1175.30 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was up 0.04% to 31.970, while TWD/CNY rose 0.28% to 0.2185.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.31% at 101.70.
