Sri Lanka shares lower at close of trade; CSE All-Share down 0.29%

Investing.com – Sri Lanka equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the Information Technology, Telecoms and Chemicals & Pharmaceuticals sectors propelled shares lower.

At the close in Colombo, the CSE All-Share declined 0.29% to hit a new 3-month low.

The biggest gainers of the session on the CSE All-Share were Beruwala Resorts PLC (CM:BERU), which rose 18.18% or 0.200 points to trade at 1.300 at the close. SMB Leasing PLC (CM:SEMB) added 14.29% or 0.1000 points to end at 0.8000 and Multi Finance PLC (CM:MULT) was up 13.25% or 2.00 points to 17.10 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Arpico Insurance Ltd (CM:ARIC), which lost 10.16% or 1.30 points to trade at 11.50 in late trade. Amaya Leisure PLC (CM:CONN) declined 6.92% or 4.50 points to end at 60.50 and Ceylon Tea Services PLC (CM:CTEA) shed 6.09% or 39.60 points to 610.50.

Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 74 to 70 and 52 ended unchanged on the Colombo Stock Exchange.

In commodities trading, Crude oil for December delivery was down 0.40% or 0.18 to $45.24 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in January fell 0.24% or 0.11 to hit $46.38 a barrel, while the December Gold contract fell 0.88% or 10.65 to trade at $1206.25 a troy ounce.

GBP/LKR was down 0.37% to 186.105, while USD/LKR rose 1.09% to 149.935.

The US Dollar Index was up 0.14% at 101.14.
