Investing.com – Sri Lanka equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Information Technology, Investment Trust and Telecoms sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Colombo, the CSE All-Share fell 0.24% to hit a new 6-month low.
The biggest gainers of the session on the CSE All-Share were Kotmale Holdings PLC (CM:LAMB), which rose 25.00% or 26.60 points to trade at 133.00 at the close. Mackwoods Energy PLC (CM:MWEL) added 20.83% or 0.500 points to end at 2.900 and Gestetner of Ceylon PLC (CM:GEST) was up 12.68% or 13.50 points to 120.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Office Equipment PLC (CM:OFEQ), which lost 17.63% or 10.70 points to trade at 50.00 in late trade. Hikkaduwa Beach Resort Ltd (CM:CITH) declined 15.56% or 2.10 points to end at 11.40 and Adam Investments Ltd (CM:ADAM) shed 14.29% or 0.100 points to 0.600.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 95 to 68 and 63 ended unchanged on the Colombo Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for April delivery was up 1.91% or 0.91 to $48.63 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in May rose 1.67% or 0.85 to hit $51.77 a barrel, while the April Gold Futures contract fell 0.09% or 1.05 to trade at $1201.55 a troy ounce.
GBP/LKR was up 0.24% to 185.050, while USD/LKR rose 0.02% to 151.880.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.13% at 101.49.
