Investing.com – Sri Lanka equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Healthcare, Beverages & Tobacco and Construction & Engineering sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Colombo, the CSE All-Share fell 0.24% to hit a new 1-month low.
The biggest gainers of the session on the CSE All-Share were Mercantile Shipping Company PLC (CM:MSL), which rose 12.56% or 9.70 points to trade at 86.90 at the close. Kelani Valley Plantations PLC (CM:KVAL) added 11.53% or 6.80 points to end at 65.80 and Palm Garden Hotels PLC (CM:PALM) was up 10.87% or 3.50 points to 35.70 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Amana Takaful PLC (CM:ATL), which lost 11.11% or 0.100 points to trade at 0.800 in late trade. Beruwala Resorts PLC (CM:BERU) declined 7.14% or 0.100 points to end at 1.300 and Nation Lanka Finance PLC (CM:CSF) shed 5.56% or 0.100 points to 1.700.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 95 to 68 and 61 ended unchanged on the Colombo Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for October delivery was up 0.65% or 0.29 to $45.19 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in November rose 0.49% or 0.23 to hit $47.33 a barrel, while the December Gold contract rose 0.25% or 3.25 to trade at $1326.95 a troy ounce.
GBP/LKR was down 0.38% to 191.895, while USD/LKR rose 0.11% to 145.490.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.02% at 95.52.
