Investing.com – Sri Lanka equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Palm Oil, Power & Energy and Telecoms sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Colombo, the CSE All-Share rose 0.06%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the CSE All-Share were Mercantile Shipping Company PLC (CM:MSL), which rose 17.65% or 15.00 points to trade at 100.00 at the close. SMB Leasing PLC (CM:SEMB) added 16.67% or 0.1000 points to end at 0.7000 and Tess Agro PLC (CM:TESS) was up 14.29% or 0.200 points to 1.600 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Paragon Ceylon PLC (CM:PARA), which lost 20.69% or 12.00 points to trade at 46.00 in late trade. Huejay International Investments PLC (CM:HUEJ) declined 18.88% or 10.50 points to end at 45.10 and Kotagala Plantations PLC (CM:KOTA) shed 11.17% or 2.10 points to 16.70.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 114 to 62 and 48 ended unchanged on the Colombo Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for August delivery was down 0.35% or 0.17 to $48.16 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in September fell 0.38% or 0.19 to hit $49.52 a barrel, while the August Gold contract rose 1.12% or 14.85 to trade at $1335.45 a troy ounce.
GBP/LKR was down 0.85% to 194.515, while USD/LKR rose 0.57% to 146.405.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.03% at 95.92.
