Investing.com – Poland equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Banking, Basic Materials and Chemicals sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Warsaw, the WIG30 lost 0.46%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the WIG30 were Boryszew SA (WA:BORY), which rose 1.66% or 0.08 points to trade at 4.89 at the close. OrangePL (WA:OPL) added 1.61% or 0.10 points to end at 6.33 and Tauron Polska Energia SA (WA:TPE) was up 1.48% or 0.04 points to 2.75 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Bank Handlowy w Warszawie SA (WA:BHW), which lost 2.55% or 2.13 points to trade at 81.37 in late trade. Alior Bank SA (WA:ALRR) declined 2.54% or 1.72 points to end at 66.10 and ING Bank Śląski SA (WA:INGP) shed 2.04% or 2.50 points to 119.90.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 263 to 232 and 189 ended unchanged on the Warsaw Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for April delivery was down 2.82% or 1.05 to $36.13 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in May fell 2.68% or 1.06 to hit $38.47 a barrel, while the April Gold contract fell 1.09% or 13.60 to trade at $1231.50 a troy ounce.
EUR/PLN was up 0.36% to 4.2930, while USD/PLN rose 0.23% to 3.8637.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.03% at 96.63.
