Investing.com – Poland equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Chemicals, Telecoms and Basic Materials sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Warsaw, the WIG30 fell 0.35%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the WIG30 were Gornictwo Naftowe i Gazownictwo SA (WA:PGN), which rose 3.70% or 0.20 points to trade at 5.60 at the close. Tauron Polska Energia SA (WA:TPE) added 2.16% or 0.060 points to end at 2.840 and Asseco Poland SA (WA:ACPP) was up 1.54% or 0.79 points to 52.21 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Jastrzebska Spotka Weglowa SA (WA:JSW), which lost 7.75% or 1.44 points to trade at 17.15 in late trade. Eurocash SA (WA:EUR) declined 3.96% or 1.90 points to end at 46.10 and LPP SA (WA:LPPP) shed 2.63% or 135.95 points to 5039.00.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 275 to 202 and 193 ended unchanged on the Warsaw Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for August delivery was down 2.43% or 1.21 to $48.67 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in September fell 2.59% or 1.33 to hit $49.99 a barrel, while the August Gold contract fell 0.34% or 4.45 to trade at $1322.45 a troy ounce.
EUR/PLN was down 0.68% to 4.3893, while USD/PLN fell 0.09% to 3.9695.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.67% at 96.33.
