Investing.com – Poland equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Basic Materials, Chemicals and Oil & Gas sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Warsaw, the WIG30 rose 1.85%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the WIG30 were Synthos SA (WA:SNS), which rose 5.47% or 0.250 points to trade at 4.820 at the close. PGE Polska Grupa Energetyczna SA (WA:PGE) added 4.42% or 0.54 points to end at 12.77 and LPP SA (WA:LPPP) was up 3.65% or 245.00 points to 6955.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Tauron Polska Energia SA (WA:TPE), which lost 1.37% or 0.050 points to trade at 3.590 in late trade. Kernel Holding SA (WA:KER) declined 0.31% or 0.20 points to end at 65.10 and Powszechny Zaklad Ubezpieczen SA (WA:PZU) gained 0.02% or 0.01 points to 43.98.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 259 to 238 and 175 ended unchanged on the Warsaw Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for August delivery was up 1.22% or 0.55 to $45.59 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in September rose 0.80% or 0.38 to hit $47.90 a barrel, while the August Gold Futures contract rose 0.47% or 5.73 to trade at $1220.43 a troy ounce.
EUR/PLN was down 0.09% to 4.2336, while USD/PLN rose 0.38% to 3.7098.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.06% at 95.55.
