Investing.com – Poland equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Basic Materials, Oil & Gas and Energy sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Warsaw, the WIG30 gained 1.06%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the WIG30 were Energa SA (WA:ENGP), which rose 3.57% or 0.35 points to trade at 10.15 at the close. KGHM Polska Miedz SA (WA:KGH) added 3.25% or 2.04 points to end at 64.73 and Gornictwo Naftowe i Gazownictwo SA (WA:PGN) was up 2.96% or 0.16 points to 5.56 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Tauron Polska Energia SA (WA:TPE), which lost 1.49% or 0.04 points to trade at 2.64 in late trade. Asseco Poland SA (WA:ACPP) declined 1.42% or 0.78 points to end at 54.01 and Alior Bank SA (WA:ALRR) shed 1.35% or 0.74 points to 53.89.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 287 to 233 and 170 ended unchanged on the Warsaw Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for July delivery was up 0.64% or 0.31 to $48.93 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in July rose 1.13% or 0.55 to hit $49.16 a barrel, while the June Gold contract fell 0.54% or 6.65 to trade at $1222.55 a troy ounce.
EUR/PLN was down 0.44% to 4.4083, while USD/PLN fell 0.55% to 3.9514.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.14% at 95.46.
