Investing.com – Poland equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Basic Materials, Energy and Information Technology sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Warsaw, the WIG30 gained 0.14%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the WIG30 were Lubelski Wegiel Bogdanka SA (WA:LWBP), which rose 7.24% or 2.95 points to trade at 43.70 at the close. Enea SA (WA:ENAE) added 3.71% or 0.38 points to end at 10.63 and PKO Bank Polski SA (WA:PKO) was up 2.35% or 0.54 points to 23.50 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Polski Koncern Naftowy ORLEN SA (WA:PKN), which lost 4.43% or 2.88 points to trade at 62.06 in late trade. Bank Zachodni WBK SA (WA:BZW) declined 1.87% or 5.20 points to end at 272.20 and PKP Cargo (WA:PKPP) shed 1.50% or 0.49 points to 32.11.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 239 to 209 and 208 ended unchanged on the Warsaw Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for August delivery was up 1.70% or 0.76 to $45.51 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in September rose 1.88% or 0.87 to hit $47.13 a barrel, while the August Gold contract fell 1.07% or 14.35 to trade at $1329.25 a troy ounce.
EUR/PLN was up 0.16% to 4.4134, while USD/PLN fell 0.08% to 3.9712.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.23% at 96.14.
