Investing.com – Nigeria equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Banking, Insurance and Oil & Gas sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Lagos, the NSE 30 fell 0.57%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the NSE 30 were Fidelitybk (LAGOS:FIDELIT), which rose 2.41% or 0.020 points to trade at 0.850 at the close. Zenithbank (LAGOS:ZENITHB) added 1.04% or 0.15 points to end at 14.51 and Access Bank (LAGOS:ACCESS) was up 0.69% or 0.04 points to 5.88 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Guaranty Bnk (LAGOS:GUARANT), which lost 4.58% or 1.10 points to trade at 23.00 in late trade. Diamond Bank (LAGOS:DIAMONB) declined 4.44% or 0.040 points to end at 0.860 and Wapco (LAGOS:WAPCO) shed 2.32% or 0.95 points to 40.00.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 17 to 13 and 49 ended unchanged on the Lagos.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for February delivery was up 1.36% or 0.71 to $53.04 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in March rose 1.24% or 0.69 to hit $56.16 a barrel, while the February Gold contract rose 0.39% or 4.55 to trade at $1166.55 a troy ounce.
EUR/NGN was up 1.16% to 328.330, while USD/NGN rose 0.16% to 314.750.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.63% at 102.59.
