Investing.com – Nigeria equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Banking, Food, Beverages & Tobacco and Insurance sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Lagos, the NSE 30 gained 0.65% to hit a new 6-month high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the NSE 30 were Fbn Holdings (LAGOS:FBNH), which rose 3.41% or 0.140 points to trade at 4.250 at the close. Zenithbank (LAGOS:ZENITHB) added 1.69% or 0.30 points to end at 18.01 and Guaranty Bnk (LAGOS:GUARANT) was up 1.46% or 0.47 points to 32.79 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Stanbicibtc Hl (LAGOS:IBTC), which lost 3.81% or 0.99 points to trade at 25.01 in late trade. Diamond Bank (LAGOS:DIAMONB) declined 2.27% or 0.020 points to end at 0.860 and Dangsugar (LAGOS:DANGSUG) shed 1.46% or 0.10 points to 6.75.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 27 to 19 and 65 ended unchanged on the Lagos.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for July delivery was down 0.52% or 0.27 to $51.20 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in July fell 0.55% or 0.30 to hit $53.85 a barrel, while the June Gold Futures contract fell 0.16% or 2.00 to trade at $1253.50 a troy ounce.
EUR/NGN was down 0.43% to 352.230, while USD/NGN rose 1.40% to 325.000.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.01% at 97.27.
