Investing.com – Nigeria equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Banking, Food, Beverages & Tobacco and Insurance sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Lagos, the NSE 30 added 0.63%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the NSE 30 were Fbn Holdings (LAGOS:FBNH), which rose 7.74% or 0.260 points to trade at 3.620 at the close. Diamond Bank (LAGOS:DIAMONB) added 4.94% or 0.040 points to end at 0.850 and Pz Cussons LG (LAGOS:PZ) was up 4.57% or 0.64 points to 14.64 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Uacn Prop (LAGOS:UACN), which lost 1.28% or 0.19 points to trade at 14.20 in late trade. Dangote Flour Mills PLC (LAGOS:DANGFLOUR) declined 0.91% or 0.04 points to end at 4.30 and Dangsugar (LAGOS:DANGSUG) shed 0.66% or 0.04 points to 6.03.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 15 to 13 and 76 ended unchanged on the Lagos.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for May delivery was down 2.10% or 1.10 to $51.31 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in June fell 2.11% or 1.16 to hit $53.73 a barrel, while the June Gold Futures contract fell 0.78% or 10.10 to trade at $1284.00 a troy ounce.
EUR/NGN was up 0.58% to 338.140, while USD/NGN unchanged 0.00% to 316.500.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.28% at 99.69.
