Investing.com – Netherlands equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the Technology, Basic Materials and Oil & Gas sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX declined 2.36%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the AEX were KPN Kon (AS:KPN), which rose 2.84% or 0.095 points to trade at 3.445 at the close. TNT Express (AS:TNTE) fell 0.21% or 0.017 points to end at 7.927 and Heineken (AS:HEIN) was down 0.37% or 0.30 points to 81.85 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Gemalto (AS:GTO), which lost 5.14% or 3.08 points to trade at 56.80 in late trade. ING Groep NV (AS:ING) declined 3.69% or 0.410 points to end at 10.695 and ArcelorMittal SA (AS:ISPA) shed 3.50% or 0.18 points to 4.93.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 116 to 46 and 10 ended unchanged on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was up 13.03% to 21.21.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for June delivery was down 0.41% or 0.19 to $45.84 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in July fell 1.03% or 0.49 to hit $47.28 a barrel, while the June Gold contract rose 2.30% or 29.10 to trade at $1295.50 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was up 0.78% to 1.1440, while EUR/GBP rose 0.67% to 0.7823.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.63% at 93.14.
