Investing.com – Netherlands equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Basic Materials, Oil & Gas and Telecoms sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX lost 2.13% to hit a new 3-month low.
The biggest gainers of the session on the AEX were Heineken (AS:HEIN), which fell 0.97% or 0.77 points to trade at 78.60 at the close. Gemalto (AS:GTO) fell 1.17% or 0.61 points to end at 51.69 and ABN AMRO Group NV (AS:ABNd) was down 1.27% or 0.22 points to 17.17 in late trade.
Biggest losers included ArcelorMittal SA (AS:ISPA), which lost 4.92% or 0.224 points to trade at 4.331 in late trade. Vopak (AS:VOPA) declined 3.99% or 1.81 points to end at 43.67 and Altice NV (AS:ATCA) shed 3.53% or 0.51 points to 13.93.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 155 to 16 and 10 ended unchanged on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was up 11.11% to 34.39 a new 3-month high.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for July delivery was down 1.15% or 0.56 to $48.32 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in August fell 1.43% or 0.72 to hit $49.63 a barrel, while the August Gold contract fell 0.18% or 2.35 to trade at $1284.55 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was down 0.76% to 1.1206, while EUR/GBP rose 0.03% to 0.7925.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.64% at 95.02.
