Investing.com – Netherlands equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the Basic Materials, Consumer Services and Consumer Goods sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX declined 1.44%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the AEX were Aegon (AS:AEGN), which rose 1.27% or 0.046 points to trade at 3.663 at the close. NN Group (AS:NN) added 0.78% or 0.21 points to end at 27.84 and Altice NV (AS:ATCA) was up 0.61% or 0.10 points to 15.75 in late trade.
Biggest losers included ArcelorMittal SA (AS:ISPA), which lost 3.09% or 0.172 points to trade at 5.395 in late trade. Koninklijke Ahold Delhaize NV (AS:AD) declined 3.00% or 0.65 points to end at 20.87 and Unibail Rodamco SE (AS:UNBP) shed 2.74% or 6.80 points to 241.20.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 139 to 26 and 11 ended unchanged on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was up 16.09% to 15.02.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for October delivery was down 2.94% or 1.40 to $46.22 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in November fell 3.24% or 1.62 to hit $48.37 a barrel, while the December Gold contract fell 0.44% or 5.95 to trade at $1335.65 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was down 0.44% to 1.1210, while EUR/GBP fell 0.17% to 0.8454.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.45% at 95.47.
